PANAMA RAINFOREST DISCOVERY CENTER

The Panama Rainforest Discovery Center is located on the famous Pipeline road, one of the most renowned places in the world for bird watching. In fact, here was established a record number for a bird count organized in 1985 by the Audubon Society, when 385 species were identified in 24 hours. Start the tour in the visitor center, observing up to 13 species of hummingbirds that they have recorded in our feeders. Continue on the trails observing birds of the undergrowth such as manakins, anteaters and trogons. Go up our 40-meter tower to contemplate birds in the canopy such as the famous blue cotinga and toucans, and visit the viewing platform by the lake to see aquatic birds like wattled jacanas, least grebes, herons and snail kites. As well as birds you will be able to observe other animals like monkeys, crocodiles, coatis, and butterflies.

AERIAL TRAM & ECOLOGICAL EXHIBITS

Admire and learn about the Rainforest, but this time from a different perspective. This peaceful and relaxing tour, takes you over the tree tops. A naturalist guide will help you to interpret some of the jungle´s most interesting facts. The tram rises 267 feet a tent-floor observation tower. On the way to the observation tower, and as we ride to the top of a hill, we will enjoy fabulous views of the Chagres River, and much of the Soberania National Park. Finally you will visit the Ecologic Exhibits as: Butterfly Farm, Orchid Nursery, Serpentarium, and Fish aquarium.

PANAMA CANAL HIKING AND BOAT TOUR

We take you to the Chagres River Marine, located in the town of Gamboa, Here you board a boat and head off on an adventure that will include a expedition across Gatun Lake in the Panama Canal passing by gigantic cargo ships transiting the waterway, making contrast with the natural surroundings. EMBERA QUERA INDIGENOUS CULTURE TOUR

Early in the morning, we will take a bus ride to gatun lake, where are located the Embera indigenous village and then enjoy the breath-taking beauty of the rainforest while aboard small or motorized canoes that take us through the Gatun River, pass by the Monkey area and directly to the gatun lake.  Upon arrival we will enjoy learning about their culture and traditions, walking to the botanical trail greeted with dancing and music and have lunch in their thatched huts.  There will be handcrafts available for sale and you will have a chance to be painted with the traditional jagua, a natural dye the Embera use to adorn their bodies. RAINFOREST BIRDING TOUR

The Panama Canal Watershed is considered one of the best birding spots in the world. The tour begins with a preparatory talk about the geographical areas and animal life of the Panama Canal provided by your expert guide as you are driven to Soberania National Park, about an hour outside Panama City. Soon afterwards you will be walking under the forest canopy into a definitively bird sanctuary, with more than 300 species. During the tour you’ll have the opportunity to see and hear the Slaty-tailed Trogon, Cinnamon Woodpecker, Rosy Thrush-tanager, Lance-tailed Manakin, Pheasant Cuckoo, and a Panama endemic, the Yellow-green Tyrannulet. Depending on the period of the year and on the blossoming, you will undoubtedly see many different kinds of tropical flowers and a diversity of plant and tree species. Howler Monkeys, Anteaters and Agoutis and breathtaking iridescent butterflies also inhabit this area.
